Tips for using your Credit and Debit Card safely

Some tips for using debit and credit card safely:

  • Sign your credit and debit cards with permanent ink as soon as you receive them from your financial institutions.
  • Memorize your PIN, do not write in on the back of the card nor disclose it to third parties.
  • Always keep your card within your sight when making payments and ensure that the returned card is yours.
  • Never sign a blank sales receipt. Draw a line through any blank space before the total line
  • When entering your password (PIN) cover the keypad to prevent others from seeing it. Do not accept help or suggestions from strangers.
  • Never throw tickets in wastebaskets of the streets. When you throw the tickets or old statements of account, be sure to destroy the parts where the account number is displayed.
  • Review your transactions through internet banking and check carefully your monthly statements.
  • Call your financial institution if you do not receive your new card or the renewal of the last expiration at the time expected to receive it.
  • Never provide your banking information nor any of your cards by telephone, even though you initiated the call, unless you can verify satisfactorily that the call is legitimate and there is a real need to disclose such information.
  • When making a trip, we recommend you notify the Bank about your trip, countries to be visited and for how long.
  • Destroy all expired cards.
  • We recommend the adhesion to the message service for the confirmation of transactions, available free by cell-phone or e-mail.
  • In case of loss or theft of your credit or debit card, immediately inform the Customer Service at 0800-891-3665 (from Brazil) or + (507) 263-4550 (other locations) and request the cancellation.
